When disciples sincerely embrace the spiritual life, it doesn’t matter to them whether or not people know about their work; they are not interested in playing a role or letting others know what they are doing. The only thing that counts for them is their work, but not in the human world, in the world of light. Many people, who do not put work first, want immediate recognition for their efforts. They want to be useful in order to earn praise. So their motives are rather personal. Of course, it is difficult to overcome the desire to be appreciated completely. Yet, it is precisely when disciples are no longer interested in glory and are fully immersed in this marvellous work without thinking of anything else, that they begin to win the appreciation of heaven and are allowed to take part in the councils on high. Those who reach this point can wish for nothing greater. |
