All forms of enjoyment or pleasure that are purely physical and sensual eventually lead to a dulling of the sensibilities. As time goes on, it takes ever more pleasure, ever-stronger sensations to obtain even a little happiness. Happiness becomes more and more elusive as one becomes less and less sensitive. Those who over-indulge in food and drink end up losing their sense of taste. Those who accumulate sexual experiences quickly become jaded. This law is borne out in all areas of life. So, curb your pleasures a little, refine them; you will become more and more sensitive and the slightest sensation will bring you the greatest joy. |
