On April 18, 2017, the Mauna Loa Observatory based in Hawaii recorded the first time in
human history that CO2 has reached 410.28 ppm — the last time on Earth was 3 million
years ago during the mid-Pliocene. Then global average temperature was 3.6 to 5.2 degrees F.
(2-3 degrees C) warmer than today and sea levels were about 49 to 82 feet (15 to 25 m)
higher than now. Data by Scripps Institute of Oceanography.
